Koppal Deputy Commissioner Inspects Tungabhadra Reservoir Crest Gate Works

In Munirabad, Koppal, Deputy Commissioner Suresh B Itnal conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing crest gate works at the Tungabhadra Reservoir on Thursday. The visit focused on assessing the progress of critical operations, including fabrication, dismantling, and installation of the gates, which are essential for the reservoir's functionality and safety.

Progress Review of Fabrication and Dismantling

During the inspection, DC Itnal reviewed the fabrication process, where officials reported significant advancements. Out of a total of 33 crest gates, fabrication has been completed for 32 gates, with only one gate still under fabrication at the Hosapete fabrication centre. In terms of dismantling, gates numbered 1 to 14 and 16 to 33 have been fully dismantled, while dismantling of gate No. 15 is currently in progress, indicating near-completion of this phase.

Installation and Trial Runs Status

The installation phase has seen substantial progress, with 24 gates already installed and work ongoing for seven additional gates. Furthermore, trial runs have been successfully completed for 20 gates, ensuring operational readiness and reliability. This step is crucial for verifying the gates' performance before full deployment.

Officials Present During Inspection

The inspection was attended by key officials, including SP Ram L Arasiddi, KNNL chief engineer Srinivas Malligawad, TR division executive engineer Naganath, AEE Dharmaraj, TB Board executive engineer Chandrashekhar, and section officers G Kiran and Pampapati DK, along with other staff members. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort and importance of this infrastructure project in the region.
