Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Prioritizes Essential Services for Summer Season

In a significant move to enhance urban livability, NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha has announced that sanitation and uninterrupted drinking water supply will be the foremost priorities for Vijayawada during the upcoming summer season. This declaration came as he assumed charge as the special officer of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Friday, marking a renewed focus on civic infrastructure and public welfare.

Vision for Vijayawada as the "Gateway to Amaravati"

Speaking at the assumption ceremony, Dr Lakshmisha highlighted the city's strategic importance, noting that the chief minister often refers to Vijayawada as the "Gateway to Amaravati." Aligning with this vision, his primary objective is to improve civic services and enhance public convenience, ensuring that the city not only meets but exceeds the expectations of its residents and visitors alike.

Comprehensive Review of Developmental Works

On the occasion, Dr Lakshmisha conducted a detailed meeting with Heads of Departments (HoDs) to review ongoing developmental projects and various civic initiatives across Vijayawada. He directed officials to promptly identify high-priority issues related to city development and take immediate corrective actions to address them efficiently.

Commitment to Swachh Survekshan Rankings

Dr Lakshmisha emphasized the importance of maintaining Vijayawada's standing in the Swachh Survekshan, India's annual cleanliness survey. He instructed officials to strive diligently to uphold and potentially improve the city's ranking, reflecting a broader commitment to sustainable urban management and environmental stewardship.

The meeting was attended by key officials including Durga temple EO VK Seena Naik, VMC additional commissioners Dr D Chandrasekhar and A Ravindra Rao, among others, underscoring a collaborative approach to governance. This initiative aims to ensure that Vijayawada remains a model city in terms of civic amenities and public service delivery, particularly as temperatures rise in the coming months.
