Visakhapatnam: Visakha Vimala Vidyalaya, recently taken over by the state government, reopened its doors to students on Friday. District Collector Abhishikt Kishore, along with MLAs Palla Srinivasa Rao and Vishnu Kumar Raju, formally inaugurated the school located in Sector VI of Ukkunagaram in Visakhapatnam.
Background of the School
The institution, previously managed by a missionary organization and financially supported by the Visakhapatnam steel plant, had been closed last year. Following the decision to continue Vimala Vidyalaya as a government school, officials reviewed the facilities available to students, infrastructure, and academic arrangements to ensure a smooth transition in management and uninterrupted educational services.
Impact on Students and Staff
According to officials, the transfer of management to the government will safeguard the educational future of hundreds of students while providing job security to 32 teaching and non-teaching staff members associated with the institution.
Collector's Directives
Collector Kishore emphasized that admissions should be encouraged to utilize the school's full capacity. He called for increasing enrollment through the Badi Pilustondi (School Calling) campaign. He also directed that the Swachh Andhra programme be organized to maintain cleanliness on the school campus.
Midday Meals and Parent-Teacher Meetings
Kishore further instructed the district educational officer to coordinate with the Akshaya Patra Foundation to provide midday meals at the school and conduct regular parent-teacher meetings. Interacting with students, he encouraged them to study well and strive for excellent academic results.
District Education Officer Prem Kumar and teachers also participated in the programme.
