Yamunanagar District Administration Launches Monitoring Teams for Gas Agencies
In a proactive move to regulate LPG distribution, the Yamunanagar district administration has formed eight specialized teams to monitor all gas agencies across the district. This initiative follows approval from the Haryana Government and aims to ensure smooth supply and prevent consumer panic.
Key Officials Lead the Effort
The teams are headed by Deputy Commissioner Preeti, with oversight from Additional Deputy Commissioner Naveen Ahuja and Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal. A crucial meeting was held at the district secretariat in Yamunanagar, where officials emphasized the district's ample stock of domestic LPG cylinders. They assured consumers that there is no need for unnecessary rushing to gas agencies, which could lead to crowding and safety concerns.
Promoting Digital Bookings and Supply Management
ADC Naveen Ahuja appealed to domestic gas consumers to book cylinders exclusively through mobile phones and online platforms, avoiding physical visits to agencies. This measure is designed to reduce congestion and streamline the booking process. For commercial LPG cylinders, the administration has directed that supplies be prioritized for essential sectors, including hospitals, hostels, educational institutions, and weddings, as per government orders.
The District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Controller (DFSC), Nitesh Kumar Singla, will coordinate with oil and gas companies to maintain a 20% stock reserve of commercial LPG cylinders. Singla confirmed that domestic gas cylinders are sufficiently available at all agencies in Yamunanagar.
Measures to Prevent Hoarding and Ensure Timely Delivery
To curb hoarding, oil companies have implemented strict booking intervals: new domestic gas cylinders can only be booked after 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas. Once booked, delivery is guaranteed within 2-3 days. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, e-KYC has been made mandatory for gas delivery, enhancing security and accountability in the distribution process.
Consumer Complaint Redressal Mechanisms
DFSC Singla provided toll-free numbers for consumers to register complaints regarding gas cylinder deliveries:
- BPCL: 1800-22-4344
- IOCL: 1800-2333-555
- HPCL: 18002333-555
This comprehensive approach by the Yamunanagar district administration underscores a commitment to efficient LPG management, consumer protection, and adherence to Haryana Government directives, ensuring essential services remain uninterrupted during critical times.
