Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has underscored the critical role of civil defence personnel in disaster management, stressing the need for advanced training to meet contemporary challenges. Speaking during a review meeting, he directed officials to ensure that volunteers are trained in line with modern requirements and that more people are actively involved in disaster management and civil defence activities.
Modern Training for Volunteers
Adityanath emphasized that civil defence volunteers must be equipped with the latest skills and knowledge to respond effectively to disasters. He called for a comprehensive training program that includes the use of advanced technology, search and rescue techniques, first aid, and coordination with emergency services. The chief minister also highlighted the importance of regular drills and simulations to keep volunteers prepared for real-life scenarios.
Expanding the Civil Defence Network
To strengthen disaster response capabilities, Adityanath urged officials to recruit more volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including youth, professionals, and retired personnel. He suggested leveraging social media and community outreach programs to raise awareness about civil defence opportunities and attract a larger pool of candidates. The goal is to create a robust network of trained individuals who can assist in times of crisis.
The chief minister also reviewed the current state of disaster management infrastructure in the state. He directed authorities to stockpile essential supplies, such as food, water, medicine, and rescue equipment, at strategic locations. Additionally, he called for better coordination between civil defence units, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local administration to ensure a swift and efficient response during emergencies.

Adityanath stressed the need to involve local communities in disaster preparedness. He suggested organizing awareness campaigns in schools, colleges, and residential areas to educate people about safety measures and evacuation procedures.
