Major Employment Drive in Buxar Sees 256 Youths Land Jobs
A significant employment initiative under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) has yielded positive results in Bihar's Buxar district. A job-cum-guidance fair organized at Chaugain village in the Dumraon subdivision on Friday successfully placed 256 young candidates into various job roles, marking a substantial boost for local employment prospects.
Strong Participation from Companies and Candidates
The employment fair witnessed robust engagement from both employers and job seekers. Fourteen different companies set up stalls at the event, offering a diverse range of opportunities across sectors. On the candidate side, registration numbers were impressive, with over 1,000 youths signing up through both online and offline channels.
Of these registrations, 875 candidates completed their enrollment on the spot at the venue itself, while an additional 210 applicants had previously registered through online platforms. From this substantial pool of talent, the participating companies extended job offers to 256 individuals, who received their appointment letters directly at the fair.
Success Stories and Official Perspectives
Among those who secured employment was 28-year-old Parmanand, an IT engineer from Navanagar village. After receiving his appointment letter, he departed for Tatanagar, Jharkhand, on Saturday to join a private commercial vehicle manufacturer.
District Magistrate Sahila, who inaugurated the event, highlighted the ongoing efforts of Jeevika in empowering women through government scheme linkages and promoting self-reliance. "We will intensify our efforts to connect Jeevika members with more welfare schemes to ensure their economic and mental empowerment, along with greater participation in regional development," she stated. The DM also encouraged youths to fully utilize the free skill training and employment support available under the DDU-GKY program.
Dumraon SDM Rakesh Kumar described the fair as an effective single platform that integrates training, employment, self-employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities. He advised candidates to maintain confidence and commitment to continuous learning.
Jeevika's Role in Rural Empowerment
Buxar District Project Manager of Jeevika, Daya Nidhi Chaubey, emphasized the organization's mission to enhance the income of Jeevika-linked families by providing skill development and job opportunities to unemployed youth. "This fair represents a strong step toward a self-reliant Bihar and an empowered rural society," he remarked.
Sharing his positive experience, Sudhir Singh, who was selected by a security service agency, mentioned that he received his appointment letter on the same day of the fair. Asha Devi, who secured a position as a fourth-grade employee with a major soft drink company in Navanagar, noted that Jeevika has successfully brought training and job opportunities closer to villages, thereby boosting confidence among rural youth.
Broader Impact and Statistics
Jeevika Employment Manager Bhole Nath Pandey provided broader context about the initiative's impact in the district. He revealed that 374 people have so far received jobs through Jeevika-organized job fairs in Buxar. "This was the fourth job fair held specifically at Chaugain village," Pandey added. He also shared that approximately 1.75 lakh Jeevika 'didis' are actively working across Buxar district through 14,043 self-help groups, demonstrating the extensive reach of the program.
The successful execution of this job fair underscores the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between government schemes like DDU-GKY, implementing agencies such as Jeevika, and private sector participation in addressing rural unemployment challenges.
