The Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA) has officially released the second phase of the Ayodhya Master Plan, encompassing a vast area of 766.39 square kilometers across the districts of Ayodhya, Basti, and Gonda. This comprehensive plan was unveiled on Monday and aims to guide future urbanization and development in the region.
Key Features of the Master Plan
The master plan includes a wide range of sectors such as residential, commercial, mixed land use, industrial, office spaces, public and semi-public facilities, transport networks, and entertainment zones. ADA officials highlighted that green spaces have been incorporated within the entertainment sector, and revenue records indicate the presence of approximately 1,200 ponds in the designated area.
Integration of Villages and Municipal Areas
Anurag Jain, Vice-chairman of the Ayodhya Development Authority, stated that the second phase of the master plan has notified 353 villages from Gonda, Basti, and Ayodhya districts. This includes the entire areas of Ayodhya Municipal Corporation, Bhadarsa Municipal Board in Ayodhya, and Nawabganj Municipal Board in Gonda.
Jain further explained that the plan identifies around 1,200 natural ponds of various sizes, as per revenue records. For rural areas outside the urbanization boundary of the master plan, a highway facility zone has been proposed on both sides of highways and the planned bypass, following a green belt. This zone is designed to meet commercial, social, economic, and road-related needs, enabling the development of hotels, dhabas, and petrol pumps along the highways.
Rural Population Expansion Zone
To accommodate the natural growth of revenue villages whose populated areas lie outside the proposed urbanization boundary, the plan designates a rural population expansion zone. This zone is based on the population recorded in revenue records and will allow for controlled expansion.
Approval and Implementation
The Housing and Urban Planning Department has granted final approval to the development authority to implement the second phase of the master plan. This phase will govern future urbanization in the region and integrate villages in neighboring Basti and Gonda districts to support future needs.
The master plan is expected to streamline development, preserve natural resources, and promote sustainable growth in the Ayodhya region.
