Budget 2026: FM Sitharaman Vows to Sustain Reform Momentum, Focus on Growth & Inclusivity
Budget 2026: Sitharaman Pledges Continued Reform Push

In her highly anticipated Budget 2026 address delivered on Sunday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reaffirmed the Narendra Modi government's unwavering commitment to advancing comprehensive economic reforms. Emphasizing a forward-looking agenda, she declared that the "Reform Express" remains firmly on track, with the administration dedicated to maintaining and accelerating this transformative momentum.

Sustaining Reform Momentum Amid Global Challenges

Presenting the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, Sitharaman highlighted the government's resolve to navigate global economic headwinds through strategic interventions. She underscored that various landmark reforms, including the Goods and Services Tax (GST), updated labour codes, and quality control orders, have been systematically implemented since August 15, laying a robust foundation for sustained growth.

Six Core Pillars for Accelerated Economic Growth

The Budget 2026 outlines a structured framework built around six core intervention areas designed to propel and sustain economic expansion. These defined pillars aim to strengthen emerging sectors, enhance industrial capacity, and provide significant benefits to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), urban regions, and future-ready industries such as biopharma. This strategic focus is intended to foster long-term stability and resilience in the manufacturing and infrastructure domains.

Three-Kartavya Framework for Inclusive Development

A key announcement in the Budget is the introduction of a structured three-Kartavya framework, which seeks to accelerate economic growth, fulfill the aspirations of citizens, and ensure universal access to resources, amenities, and opportunities. Sitharaman articulated that the government's Kartavya, or duty, is to guarantee that the dividends of growth permeate every stratum of society, including farmers, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and the youth.

The finance minister emphasized that this three-part approach is meticulously crafted to bolster inclusivity and resilience, directly benefiting farmers, youth, women, disadvantaged groups, and every region across the nation. By prioritizing the poor, underprivileged, and disadvantaged, the government's Sankalp, or resolve, is to create an equitable economic landscape where no community is left behind.

"Our Kartavya is to ensure every family, community, and sector has access to resources, amenities and opportunities," Sitharaman stated during her Budget speech, reinforcing the administration's dedication to holistic and inclusive progress. This vision aligns with the broader objective of sustaining reform momentum to drive comprehensive national development.
