Buxar District Magistrate Launches E-Rickshaw Initiative for Fishermen
In a significant move to empower local fish farmers, District Magistrate Sahila distributed seven three-wheeler e-rickshaws on Friday under the Fish Transport Vehicle Scheme. This initiative, launched by the fisheries department, is designed to enhance the livelihoods of fishermen in the region.
Boosting Self-Reliance and Market Trust
DM Sahila emphasized that the scheme will help fish farmers achieve self-reliance and strengthen their economic stability. She urged the beneficiaries to utilize the vehicles effectively for the safe transportation and sale of fish, which is expected to build greater trust among customers by ensuring product quality.
According to officials, the e-rickshaws are specially equipped with ice boxes to maintain hygiene and freshness during transport from water sources to markets. This modern approach aims to reduce spoilage and improve efficiency in the fisheries sector.
Official Statements on the Scheme's Impact
Additional District Magistrate Arun Kumar Singh highlighted that the vehicles provide a safer and more efficient means of transport, addressing long-standing challenges in the industry. The scheme promotes the adoption of modern equipment, aligning with broader efforts to modernize agricultural and fisheries practices in the area.
Officials noted that the distribution is part of a larger strategy to support local communities and enhance food safety standards. By facilitating better market access, the initiative is poised to increase income opportunities for fishermen and contribute to regional economic growth.
The event underscores the government's commitment to sustainable development and livelihood enhancement in Buxar and neighboring regions.
