Urban Mobility and Metro Expansion
Urban transport received a boost with the clearance of the Noida Metro Aqua Line extension, involving an investment of Rs 2,254 crore. This extension is set to enhance public transit options and reduce traffic congestion in the National Capital Region.
Major Funding for Urban and Startup Ecosystems
In addition to hard infrastructure, the Cabinet has approved large-scale funding initiatives focused on urban transformation and innovation:
- Urban Challenge Fund with an outlay of Rs 1,00,000 crore, designed to strengthen urban infrastructure and support city-level development projects.
- Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 with a corpus of Rs 10,000 crore, aimed at providing capital to early-stage startups and fostering deep-tech innovation.
Overall Impact and Economic Focus
The total approved expenditure of Rs 1,60,504 crore reflects a balanced approach, combining physical infrastructure expansion with urban development and innovation-led economic growth. These decisions are poised to create jobs, improve logistics, and stimulate regional economies, aligning with broader national goals for sustainable development.
Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized that these projects will play a crucial role in boosting India's infrastructure landscape, making it more resilient and efficient for future challenges.
