In a heartwarming initiative aimed at empowerment and exposure, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday flagged off a special educational tour for 52 orphaned children from across the state. The 'Children of the State Tour' will take the youngsters on a multi-city journey, culminating in Goa, as part of the government's commitment to their holistic development.
A Journey of Discovery and Learning
Interacting with the excited children before their departure, CM Sukhu encouraged them to embrace this unique opportunity. He urged them to explore new places, absorb lessons from diverse cultures, and collect enriching experiences that would last a lifetime. The Chief Minister emphasized that such exposure trips are crucial for broadening horizons, enhancing knowledge, and fostering a deeper understanding of India's rich heritage alongside its modern advancements.
The tour, which commenced on Tuesday, is scheduled to continue until January 15. It features an extensive itinerary designed for both education and enjoyment. The children will travel through multiple modes of transport, including Volvo buses, railways, and even air travel, adding to the novelty of their experience.
Exploring Iconic Landmarks Across India
The young participants' journey will cover several major cities. Their planned stops include:
- Chandigarh and Delhi: In the national capital, the group will visit historic sites like the Red Fort, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Raj Ghat, and Humayun's Tomb. Educational visits to the National Zoological Park, the National Science Museum, and various cultural centres are also on the agenda.
- Agra: A visit to the iconic Taj Mahal is a key highlight of the tour, offering the children a glimpse into India's architectural marvel.
- Goa: The final leg in Goa will blend leisure with learning. The children will explore famous beaches, churches, and temples, enjoy a pleasure cruise, and visit the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services to boost their scientific and environmental awareness.
Rooted in the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana
This initiative is a direct extension of the state government's Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana. CM Sukhu reiterated that the scheme's goal extends beyond mere care and protection. It is fundamentally about securing opportunities for quality education, valuable exposure, and a dignified future for every child under its wing.
The Chief Minister issued clear directives to accompanying officials to prioritise the safety, comfort, and overall well-being of the children throughout the tour. Since its launch, the ambitious scheme has made significant strides, having legally adopted approximately 4,000 orphaned, destitute, and specially-abled children as "Children of the State." These children receive comprehensive support covering all aspects of their development, from education and healthcare to skill training.
This educational tour stands as a tangible example of the government's pledge to ensure that children from vulnerable backgrounds are not left behind and are given wings to dream and explore.
