Mandya: District-Level Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority chairperson Chikkalingaiah has directed college principals across the district and taluk levels to promote awareness of the Yuva Nidhi Scheme among students. He stressed that dedicated awareness programmes must be conducted in colleges, and prominent signboards explaining the scheme should be installed in and around school and college campuses.
Chikkalingaiah was presiding over a review meeting of the Authority held at the ZP mini hall, where progress under various guarantee schemes was assessed. He noted that the district has received 704 applications seeking conversion of ration cards from APL to BPL category. Of these, 420 applications have already been processed and approved after due verification. He directed the officials to expedite scrutiny of the remaining applications and ensure timely disposal.
Under the Gruha Jyothi Scheme, newly constructed houses are being provided up to 200 units of free electricity, he highlighted.
