He was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa and District Programme Officer Rajiv Dhanda.
During the visit, the DC reviewed the registration process and interacted with Mahila Satkar Sakhis and beneficiaries present at the centre. He stated that under the scheme, eligible women will receive a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000, while women belonging to Scheduled Castes will be provided Rs 1,500 per month.
Eligibility Criteria
The DC informed that all women aged 18 years and above who are registered voters in Punjab and possess valid Aadhaar and voter identity cards are eligible to avail benefits under the scheme, subject to certain exclusions.
Exclusions from the Scheme
Those excluded from the scheme include income-tax payers, serving and retired employees of the Punjab government, Central Government, or any other state government and Union Territory administration, elected Members of Parliament and Legislative Assemblies, and spouses of serving Ministers, MPs and MLAs.
Objective of Inspection
The DC said that the objective of the inspection was to assess the ground-level implementation of the scheme in Kapurthala district and identify any challenges in the registration process to ensure its effective rollout. He emphasised that no eligible beneficiary should be deprived of the benefits of the scheme due to lack of awareness or procedural difficulties.
