Ganga Expressway Main Carriageway Completed in UP

Ganga Expressway Main Carriageway Fully Constructed in Uttar Pradesh

In a significant milestone for infrastructure development, the 594-kilometer main carriageway of the Ganga Expressway has been completed, officials announced on Saturday. This expressway, which connects Meerut to Prayagraj, is now the longest in Uttar Pradesh, marking a major achievement in the state's transportation network.

Minister Directs Acceleration of Remaining Works

During a review meeting at the PICUP Bhawan, Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi chaired discussions with the UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority. He issued directives to expedite all remaining tasks to ensure the expressway can be opened to the public at the earliest possible date. The focus is now on finalizing ancillary elements to facilitate safe and efficient vehicular movement.

Enhanced Safety Measures Implemented

Officials emphasized that before traffic begins, extensive safety protocols are being established. Unlike previous expressways that primarily used wire fencing, the Ganga Expressway is being outfitted with a permanent boundary wall and metal beam crash barriers. These measures are designed to prevent unauthorized crossings by local villagers and stray cattle, addressing common safety concerns on highways.

Construction of these boundary walls and crash barriers is currently underway along approximately 295 kilometers of the expressway. This proactive approach aims to enhance road safety and reduce potential accidents, setting a new standard for infrastructure projects in the region.

Future Projects and Deadlines

In addition to the Ganga Expressway, Minister Nandi instructed officials to ensure that foundation stones for all proposed expressways and link corridors are laid by October. This directive underscores the state's commitment to expanding its expressway network and boosting industrial growth through improved connectivity.

The completion of the main carriageway represents a critical step forward, with ongoing efforts focused on safety enhancements and future infrastructure initiatives to support Uttar Pradesh's economic development.
