Garhwa Forms Ujjwala Committee to Reach 199K+ LPG Beneficiaries
Garhwa Forms Panel to Include All in PM Ujjwala Scheme

In a significant move to ensure no eligible household is left behind, the Garhwa district administration has initiated steps to include all remaining beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).

Directive for District Ujjwala Committee Formation

On Tuesday, District Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Yadav issued clear instructions to officials and representatives of oil marketing companies. He mandated the immediate formation of the District Ujjwala Committee (DUC). This directive aims to systematically identify and enroll every remaining eligible household in the district that has not yet benefited from the central government's flagship scheme.

The DC emphasized that a total of 1,99,012 households in Garhwa have already received LPG connections under PMUY. However, the administration is now focused on those who were initially left out. The newly formed committee will be the driving force behind this final push for comprehensive coverage.

Key Objectives of the New Committee

After a crucial meeting with stakeholders, DC Yadav outlined the multi-faceted role of the District Ujjwala Committee. Its primary objectives are designed to make the scheme's implementation foolproof and citizen-centric.

The DUC will be responsible for the identification of all eligible beneficiaries who have been missed so far. It will also oversee the distribution of LPG connections, ensuring they reach the intended households without delay.

A major part of its mandate involves generating widespread public awareness about the scheme and its benefits. Furthermore, the committee will work towards making all administrative procedures related to PMUY more effective and completely transparent, building greater public trust.

Expanded Reach and Empowerment Focus

Adding to the scheme's momentum, the DC revealed that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has approved an additional 2.5 million LPG connections across the nation under PMUY. This decision underscores the government's continued commitment to supporting economically weaker sections.

DC Yadav highlighted that the initiative is particularly transformative for women's lives. "The PMUY is not only a source of reformation in domestic life, but it is also an important initiative towards women's health, the environment, and social empowerment," he stated. The scheme provides timely access to safe cooking fuel, reducing indoor air pollution and the health hazards associated with traditional cooking methods.

This focused effort in Garhwa is expected to bring the benefits of clean energy to every corner of the district, marking a significant step towards social upliftment and improved quality of life for its residents.
