Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana Registrations Cross 20 Lakh in Punjab

Ludhiana: Official registration has commenced across Punjab for the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, a pre-election welfare promise granting monthly stipends to women aged 18 and older. Under the initiative, general beneficiaries will receive ₹1,000 every month, while women from scheduled caste (SC) communities are eligible for ₹1,500.

More than 20 lakh women have applied statewide, including 6 lakh SC applicants. Within the first two days, Ludhiana district logged over 6,700 registrations, led by Khanna with 1,264 applications and Jagraon with 1,127. The outreach successfully spanned both rural and urban constituencies, including Ludhiana Central and Ludhiana West.

Government authorities have already verified 96,381 SC applications across the state. District programme officer Gurmeet Singh has confirmed that applicants who complete registration and background verification by June 30 will begin receiving direct financial deposits on July 1. Officials termed the high initial turnout an encouraging indicator of public trust in state-sponsored gender-empowerment initiatives.
