Mysuru District Achieves Landmark Progress in Land Record Digitization

Mysuru district has demonstrated exceptional advancement under the Karnataka state government's flagship Bhoo Suraksha scheme, a comprehensive initiative aimed at digitizing land records to enhance transparency and efficiency. The district has secured an impressive third-place ranking statewide for its effective implementation of this ambitious project.

Comprehensive Digitization Drive Across Taluks

Revenue department officials have embarked on a massive effort to digitize land records for A and B khata properties stored in various government offices. This includes records rooms at tahsildar, sub-registrar, survey settlement, additional deputy commissioner, deputy commissioner, and other revenue deputy offices throughout the district.

The project encompasses a staggering 12 lakh files and 6.4 crore pages of documents, which have been systematically categorized into A, B, C, and D sections based on their importance and retention requirements.

Substantial Progress and Ambitious Targets

To date, officials have successfully scanned, uploaded, and digitally stored 3.6 crore pages of land records on the designated Bhoo Suraksha portal. The digitization of the remaining 2.7 crore pages is currently underway, with a clear roadmap for completion.

Remarkably, the revenue department has already begun issuing online land records, distributing 1.64 lakh pages to applicants through taluk offices, significantly streamlining access to crucial documents.

Taluk-Wise Digitization Achievements

The district's progress varies across taluks, with several areas nearing full digitization:

  • Mysuru taluk: 93% completion
  • KR Nagar: 92% completion
  • HD Kote: 90% completion
  • T Narasipura: 89% completion
  • Periyapatna: 88% completion
  • Saragur: 87% completion
  • Saligrama: 90% completion

Strategic Retention Policies and Future Goals

Revenue department officials have received specific directives regarding the digital preservation of land records based on their classification:

  1. A section documents: To be preserved permanently
  2. B section documents: Retention for 30 years
  3. C section documents: Retention for 10 years
  4. D section documents: Retention for 5 years

With the exception of Nanjangud and Hunsur taluks, the revenue department has set an ambitious target of achieving 100% digitization in all remaining seven taluks of Mysuru district within the next six months. Additional Deputy Commissioner P Shivaraju, who is overseeing the project, has instructed all involved officers to complete the digitization process across the entire district within eight months.

This systematic approach to land record management under the Bhoo Suraksha scheme represents a significant step toward modernizing administrative processes, reducing bureaucratic delays, and providing citizens with easier access to essential property documents.
