The Union Education Ministry has implemented heightened security measures for the upcoming NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21. In response to the paper leak controversy that led to the cancellation of the original exam, the Ministry has deployed personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to ensure secure transportation of question papers.
Security Enhancements
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has enlisted the Indian Air Force (IAF) to expedite the distribution of question papers from Hyderabad and Ahmedabad to 551 hub cities across the country. This move aims to prevent any recurrence of security breaches that marred the initial examination process.
Extended Exam Duration
In a significant change, the examination duration has been extended from the standard 180 minutes to 195 minutes. Additionally, question booklets will now include two extra rough-work pages to assist students during the test. These adjustments are intended to provide candidates with additional time and resources to complete the examination under improved conditions.
The original NEET-UG exam, which was taken by approximately 2.3 million students, was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak. The re-examination is part of efforts to restore the integrity of the admissions process for medical and dental courses.
