SDM Conducts Inspection of SIR Camps in Phagwara
In compliance with the directives of the Election Commission of India, Phagwara Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dr Navjot Sharma on Saturday inspected the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) camps being organised across the subdivision on July 11 and 12. The inspection aimed to ensure the smooth functioning of the camps and the timely completion of the voter list revision process.
During her visit, Dr Sharma reviewed the overall functioning of the camps and noted an enthusiastic response from the general public. She interacted with booth-level officers (BLOs) and resolved issues faced by them on the spot to facilitate the revision process without any hindrance.
Directives to BLOs on Digitisation and Error Rectification
Dr Sharma directed BLOs who had achieved 100 per cent digitisation of the collected forms to focus on rectifying deficiencies and errors in the submitted applications. She also instructed officials at booths where a large number of forms had been collected but digitisation remained pending to complete the process at the earliest. The SDM emphasised the importance of accuracy and timeliness in the digitisation work to ensure a flawless voter list.
To support the two-day camps, staff from schools, revenue patwaris, Anganwadi workers, supervisors, and ALMTs have been deployed alongside the BLOs. This additional manpower is intended to expedite form filling and digitisation tasks, ensuring that the SIR process stays on schedule.
Appeal to Residents for Maximum Participation
Appealing to the residents of Phagwara, the SDM urged eligible voters to make maximum use of these special camps and submit their enumeration forms at their respective polling booths without delay. She stressed that timely submission is crucial to completing the SIR process within the stipulated timeframe set by the Election Commission.
The SIR camps are part of a broader effort by the Election Commission to update and revise the electoral rolls, ensuring that all eligible voters are included and any discrepancies are corrected. The Phagwara administration has mobilised resources to ensure the success of this initiative.
