Key Details of the Ganga Expressway Project
The Ganga Expressway spans a total length of 594 kilometres, connecting Bijoli village in Meerut to Judapur Dandu village in Prayagraj. This strategic route will directly link western Uttar Pradesh with the eastern region, strengthening the state's economic and social framework while making travel faster, safer, and more convenient for residents and businesses alike.
Extensive Reach and Benefits
The expressway will directly benefit 12 major districts, including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj. Additionally, a total of 519 villages will be connected through this project, accelerating economic activities in both rural and urban areas and fostering regional development.
Boosting Uttar Pradesh's Expressway Network
Currently, Uttar Pradesh accounts for approximately 55% of India's total expressway network. With the inauguration of the Ganga Expressway, this share is projected to increase to nearly 60%, further solidifying UP's position as a leading state in expressway development and infrastructure advancement.
Leadership and Implementation
An official highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh have progressed rapidly. The Ganga Expressway, approved by the cabinet in 2020 and implemented on priority, stands as a strong example of this progress, serving as a foundation for building a 'New Uttar Pradesh' with enhanced connectivity and growth opportunities.
Economic and Social Impact
The improved connectivity from the expressway is expected to reduce logistics costs significantly, providing substantial benefits to industries and trade. It will act as a new industrial corridor, attracting investment and generating employment opportunities for the youth. For farmers, the project will facilitate quicker transport of agricultural produce to markets, improving quality and pricing, while strengthening supply chains for perishable goods to increase income.
Promoting Tourism and Culture
The Ganga Expressway will also promote religious and cultural tourism by improving connectivity to key destinations like Prayagraj. This is anticipated to increase tourist footfall and strengthen the local economy, contributing to overall regional prosperity and cultural exchange.
