PM Modi to Disburse Rs 18,650 Crore in PM-KISAN Funds, Uttar Pradesh Farmers Major Beneficiaries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the 22nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from Guwahati on Friday, marking a significant financial boost for farmers across India. This disbursement will benefit approximately 9.32 crore farmers nationwide, with Uttar Pradesh alone accounting for a substantial 23% of the total recipients.

Massive Financial Injection for Agricultural Community

According to official data from the agriculture ministry, an amount exceeding Rs 18,650 crore will be transferred directly to beneficiary farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanisms. This substantial financial injection represents the government's continued commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and ensuring economic stability for farming families.

Uttar Pradesh emerges as the primary beneficiary state, with an estimated 2.15 crore farmers poised to receive approximately Rs 4,335 crore from this instalment. Since the scheme's inception in 2019, Uttar Pradesh farmers have already received approximately Rs 94,668 crore directly credited to their bank accounts, demonstrating the program's significant impact on the state's agricultural economy.

State-Wide Celebrations and Digital Outreach

The Centre has designated this occasion as 'PM Kisan Utsav Diwas,' with Uttar Pradesh implementing elaborate preparations spanning from state-level events down to district, divisional block, and gram panchayat levels. Principal Secretary (Agriculture) Ravindra has issued orders for comprehensive event coordination, ensuring maximum participation and awareness.

The event will feature extensive webcasting at local levels, with public representatives including Members of Parliament, Legislative Assembly members, and gram pradhans expected to attend. The state government has also invited progressive farmers to participate in the celebrations, recognizing their contributions to agricultural innovation and productivity.

Strengthening Institutional Support Systems

To amplify the reach and impact of this disbursement, the Uttar Pradesh government is engaging multiple agricultural institutions. Kisan Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) are being mobilized to ensure every eligible farmer receives timely information and support regarding the scheme.

Official records from the PM-KISAN portal reveal that over 2.1 crore eligible farmers in Uttar Pradesh already have verified land details seeded in the system. The state government is intensifying efforts to create a comprehensive farmer registry—a digital database that will provide every farmer with a unique identification number.

Digital Transformation Through AgriStack Initiative

This farmer registry forms part of the national AgriStack initiative, which aims to revolutionize agricultural governance through technology. The system creates a single, verified digital identity for each farmer, linked to their Aadhaar and land records. This digital infrastructure is designed to streamline access to government schemes and subsidies, reducing bureaucratic hurdles and ensuring transparent, efficient delivery of benefits.

The upcoming PM-KISAN disbursement represents not just immediate financial relief for millions of farming families, but also demonstrates the government's broader strategy of combining direct financial support with long-term digital infrastructure development for sustainable agricultural growth.
