Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India's expanding network of trade and mobility agreements with various nations is opening up significant new opportunities for the country's youth. Addressing the government's 18th Rozgar Mela virtually, where 61,000 new government employees received appointment letters across 45 locations, the Prime Minister outlined the government's focused efforts on creating avenues for young Indians both domestically and internationally.
New Horizons Through International Agreements
"Today, India stands as one of the youngest countries globally," PM Modi stated during his address. "Our government is continuously working to generate new opportunities for India's youth power within the country and across the world. Currently, the Government of India is signing trade and mobility agreements with numerous countries. These agreements are bringing forth countless new possibilities for the youth of India."
This statement comes at a crucial juncture as India and the European Union approach the finalization of a comprehensive trade deal. Additionally, India and the United Kingdom solidified their economic partnership through the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement signed in July of the previous year, marking significant milestones in India's international trade relations.
Foreign Direct Investment Boosting Employment Prospects
PM Modi also highlighted the transformative impact of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on India's economic landscape and employment generation. "The increasing global trust in India today is creating numerous new possibilities for our youth," he remarked. "India remains the only large economy worldwide that has successfully doubled its Gross Domestic Product within a single decade."
The Prime Minister provided specific data to underscore this growth: "Presently, more than one hundred countries are investing in India through FDI channels. Compared to the decade preceding 2014, India has attracted more than two and a half times the amount of foreign investment. This substantial increase in foreign investment translates to countless employment opportunities for India's youth."
Call for Continuous Self-Improvement
Addressing the newly appointed government employees directly, PM Modi encouraged them to implement small-scale reforms at their respective levels. He emphasized that improving ease of living and ease of doing business extends beyond policy matters to include the intentions and actions of government employees at local levels.
"You must remember one crucial aspect," PM Modi advised. "In this era of rapidly evolving technology, the needs and priorities of our nation are changing swiftly. You must continuously upgrade yourselves alongside these fast-paced changes. Whether it is the Prime Minister or a junior government servant, we are all public servants sharing one common mantra: Nagrik Devo Bhava – the citizen is God. In this principle, no one holds superior position, and we all remain equally committed to serving our citizens."
The Prime Minister's message reinforced the importance of adaptability and skill enhancement in today's dynamic global environment, while celebrating India's economic achievements and international partnerships that benefit the nation's youth.
