PM Modi's First Decisions at Seva Teerth: Free Accident Care, Doubling Lakhpati Didis
PM Modi's First Seva Teerth Decisions: Free Accident Care, Lakhpati Didis

In a significant move marking his first major actions after relocating to Seva Teerth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday authorized a series of impactful decisions aimed at enhancing public welfare and economic empowerment. These initiatives, signed off by the PM, include provisions for free medical care for road accident victims, a doubling of the target for Lakhpati Didis, and the launch of the Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 with a substantial corpus of Rs 10,000 crore.

Key Decisions Reflect Spirit of Service

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) emphasized that these decisions embody a deep-seated spirit of seva (service) and are designed to benefit every segment of society. By addressing critical areas such as healthcare, women's empowerment, and entrepreneurship, the government aims to foster inclusive growth and support vulnerable populations.

PM Road Accident Victims Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment (RAHAT)

Under the newly approved PM RAHAT scheme, road accident victims will receive cashless medical treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh. This initiative ensures that no life is lost due to a lack of immediate medical assistance, providing a safety net for those involved in accidents.

The scheme specifies that every victim will be offered stabilisation treatment for up to 24 hours in non-life-threatening cases and up to 48 hours in life-threatening scenarios at designated hospitals. This structured approach aims to improve survival rates and reduce long-term health complications from road accidents.

Doubling the Target for Lakhpati Didis

In a move to boost women's economic independence, Prime Minister Modi has approved a proposal to increase the number of Lakhpati Didis. The government has already achieved the landmark of 3 crore Lakhpati Didis, surpassing the original March 2027 timeline by more than a year.

Now, the PM has set an ambitious new target of six crore Lakhpati Didis by March 2029, effectively doubling both the scale and aspiration of this program. This expansion is expected to empower more women across the country, enabling them to achieve financial stability and contribute to the economy.

Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0

To further stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship, the PM has greenlit the Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0, which comes with a corpus of Rs 10,000 crore. This fund is designed to provide crucial financial support to startups, fostering a vibrant ecosystem for new businesses and job creation.

By investing in startups, the government aims to drive technological advancements and economic growth, aligning with its broader vision of a self-reliant India.

These decisions, taken in the early days of PM Modi's tenure at Seva Teerth, underscore a commitment to proactive governance and societal well-being. They are poised to have a far-reaching impact on healthcare accessibility, women's empowerment, and entrepreneurial development in the nation.
