PM-SYM Gains Momentum in Uttar Pradesh: Firozabad Leads Enrollment Drive
The Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana (PM-SYM) has registered substantial momentum across Uttar Pradesh, with Firozabad emerging as the top-performing district during a recent special enrollment campaign. According to a state government spokesperson, Firozabad recorded an impressive 349 enrolments, showcasing strong administrative efforts in extending social security to workers.
Campaign Performance Highlights
A special enrollment drive was conducted between January 15 and March 15, delivering notable gains in reaching workers in the unorganised sector. Following Firozabad, Ghaziabad secured second place with 262 enrolments, while Basti ranked third with 238 enrolments. Several other districts made substantial contributions to the campaign's success, including:
- Banda
- Bareilly
- Ambedkar Nagar
- Hapur
- Bijnor
Officials noted that the special drive significantly improved the pace of enrolments across most districts, a development attributed to targeted administrative efforts and sustained grassroots outreach. "Even in districts with relatively lower performance, corrective measures and focused interventions are underway to boost participation," the spokesperson emphasized.
Overall Performance in 2025-26
In terms of comprehensive performance for the fiscal year 2025-26, Hardoi secured the top rank with 929 enrolments, demonstrating exceptional implementation of the scheme. Azamgarh followed with 597 enrolments, while Ghaziabad recorded 547 enrolments, emerging as model districts in the scheme's execution.

- Pratapgarh
- Basti
- Ballia
- Meerut
- Varanasi
Scheme Objectives and Future Outlook
The PM-SYM scheme is specifically designed to provide a monthly pension to workers in the unorganised sector, addressing critical gaps in social security infrastructure. It is rapidly becoming a key pillar of social security in Uttar Pradesh, offering financial stability to vulnerable workers.
