Prayagraj: Over 5 Lakh Farmers Receive 22nd PM Kisan Instalment

In a significant boost for agricultural communities, the 22nd instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme was directly credited to the accounts of more than 5 lakh farmers in Prayagraj district on Friday. This financial aid, part of a nationwide initiative, aims to support small and marginal farmers across India.

National Release and Local Impact

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the instalment from Assam, with the event being live-streamed to beneficiaries at the Sangam Auditorium in Prayagraj. Deputy Director of Agriculture, Pawan Kumar Vishwakarma, confirmed that 5,81,022 farmers in the district received the benefits, totaling Rs 170.66 crore transferred directly into their accounts. This direct transfer ensures transparency and efficiency in delivering assistance.

Statewide Distribution and Scheme Details

Across Uttar Pradesh, the impact was even more substantial, with 2.15 crore farmers receiving Rs 4,335.11 crore as part of this latest instalment. The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme provides financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per annum to eligible farming families, distributed in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each. This support is crucial for covering agricultural expenses such as seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, and other farming inputs.

Beyond farming needs, the assistance also helps families meet household requirements, including education and healthcare costs, thereby improving overall rural livelihoods. The scheme's design focuses on empowering farmers through timely and direct financial aid.

Benefits and Implementation

The scheme operates through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), which ensures that funds reach beneficiaries without intermediaries, reducing delays and corruption. Key aspects include:

  • Direct crediting of funds to farmers' bank accounts.
  • Annual assistance of Rs 6,000 per eligible family member.
  • Distribution in three instalments to provide consistent support.
  • Focus on small and marginal farmers to enhance agricultural productivity.

This instalment marks another step in the government's ongoing efforts to bolster the agricultural sector and support farmers' welfare across India.
