Prayagraj's Zero Poverty Campaign Emerges as a Lifeline for Nearly 29,000 Families
In a significant stride towards inclusive development, the Zero Poverty Campaign in Prayagraj has proven to be a crucial lifeline for 28,974 families across the district. Chief Development Officer Harshika Singh has directed officials to ensure that all identified families receive the full benefits of various government schemes, marking a concerted effort to uplift the most vulnerable segments of society.
Substantial Progress in Livelihood and Housing Initiatives
The campaign has achieved remarkable milestones, with approximately 84% of the target successfully met in linking identified families to livelihood groups. This initiative is pivotal in fostering economic independence and stability among impoverished households.
Furthermore, the campaign has facilitated permanent housing for 2,715 'Most Impoverished Families' under schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and the Chief Minister Awas Yojana. In addition to housing, these families have received comprehensive training through the Skill Development Mission and access to self-employment opportunities, empowering them to build sustainable futures.
Expanding Benefits to More Families in Need
Authorities are actively working to extend housing assistance to an additional 12,532 families in the district who have been deprived of such benefits. This expansion underscores the campaign's commitment to leaving no family behind in the fight against poverty.
In a parallel effort to improve living conditions, 7,293 identified families have been provided with toilet facilities, addressing essential sanitation needs and enhancing overall quality of life.
Campaign Objectives and Strategic Implementation
Launched on October 2, 2024, the Zero Poverty Campaign aims to identify the poorest families within every Gram Panchayat (village council) and prioritize their inclusion in government schemes. The primary goal is to improve socio-economic status and foster self-reliance through targeted interventions.
Mission Manager of the Livelihood Group in Prayagraj, Sharad Kumar Singh, highlighted that the district has set a target of covering 20,018 families under the Livelihood Mission. With 84% of this target already achieved, the campaign demonstrates effective implementation and a strong focus on measurable outcomes.
This comprehensive approach not only addresses immediate needs but also lays the groundwork for long-term poverty eradication, making Prayagraj a model for inclusive development initiatives across the region.
