Prayagraj's 3.1km Ganga Bridge to Power UP's Road Network
Prayagraj is set to witness a major infrastructure milestone with the construction of a six-lane bridge over the Ganga River. This project, part of phase-II of the Ring Road initiative, aims to significantly boost connectivity and streamline traffic movement across key urban areas. The bridge is designed to alleviate congestion and enhance daily commutes for residents and travelers alike.
Mega Structure with Cable-Stayed Design
The bridge will span an impressive 3,100 metres, featuring a 2,100-metre cable-stayed section that stands out as one of the most prominent infrastructure elements in the region. Its scale and innovative design not only improve structural integrity but also add to the visual appeal of Prayagraj's landscape, marking it as a landmark development.
Easing Traffic Load and Improving Mobility
A primary goal of the Ring Road project is to divert heavy vehicles away from crowded city roads. Once operational, this bridge is expected to reduce travel time and ease congestion, particularly during peak hours and large public gatherings. This will lead to smoother traffic flow and enhanced safety for all road users.
Construction Progress and Timeline
Construction is well underway, with 80 pillars being erected and nearly 90% of this work already completed. Officials anticipate finishing the remaining pillar tasks by May, demonstrating steady advancement. Following this, segment placement and superstructure work are scheduled to commence in June, with segment casting already in progress near Saraswati Hi-Tech City to support the next phases.
Enhanced Cable Design for Strength and Aesthetics
The cable-stayed section incorporates cables spaced at 150-metre intervals, with approximately 14 segments planned. This design is more extensive than previous projects, offering improved structural strength and aesthetic qualities, ensuring the bridge is both durable and visually striking.
Key Areas to Be Connected
This bridge will link crucial locations such as Nibi Kala, Chhatnag, and Saraswati Hi-Tech City in Naini. It is poised to enhance connectivity between the trans-Ganga and trans-Yamuna regions, facilitating more efficient daily movement and supporting regional economic growth by improving access to key urban and industrial zones.
