Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Unveils Major Development Initiative for Hoshiarpur
In a significant move to bolster infrastructure and public services, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday launched a comprehensive Rs 516-crore development package for the Hoshiarpur district. The announcement, made during a public gathering, focuses on enhancing healthcare facilities and improving regional connectivity, particularly in the Sham Chaurasi assembly segment.
Healthcare Expansion and Medical Institute
Addressing the assembly, CM Mann detailed plans for the Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences, which is set to be completed within two years. This institute will train 100 MBBS doctors annually and include a 300-bed hospital equipped with advanced medical facilities. Key features of the hospital will encompass an Outpatient Department (OPD), MRI and CT scan services, and specialized departments, aiming to provide high-quality medical care to residents.
Additionally, Mann laid the foundation stone for a 30-bed community health centre in Sham Chaurasi. This centre will feature a modern operation theatre, laboratory, X-ray facility, and other essential services, benefiting over 40 villages in the area. To further extend healthcare access, the CM announced the establishment of seven new health and wellness centres across the constituency, ensuring last-mile delivery of medical services.
Road Connectivity Project
In a bid to improve transportation links, Mann also initiated the Rs 99-crore Balachaur-Garhshankar-Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road project. This 105-kilometre corridor is designed to connect Chandigarh to Pathankot and Jammu and Kashmir via Balachaur, Hoshiarpur, and Dasuya. The project is expected to reduce travel time between Jammu and Chandigarh and facilitate smoother access for devotees traveling to religious sites such as Anandpur Sahib, Mata Naina Devi, and Jwala Ji.
Political Presence and Support
The event was attended by key political figures, including Punjab Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh and Hoshiarpur MP Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal, highlighting the collaborative effort behind this development push. Their presence underscores the government's commitment to regional growth and public welfare.
This initiative marks a substantial investment in Hoshiarpur's future, combining healthcare advancements with infrastructure upgrades to foster economic and social development in the region.
