Punjab Government Greenlights Construction of Guru Ravidass Study Centre
In a significant development for educational and cultural infrastructure in the region, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced on Friday that construction work for the highly anticipated Guru Ravidass Bani Adhyayan Centre will commence shortly. The announcement came during his official visit to Dera Sachkhand Ballan near Jalandhar, where he personally reviewed the proposed layout plan and assessed the project's current progress status.
Land Acquisition and Plan Approval Completed
The state government has already taken possession of 10.50 acres of land specifically allocated for this project across the villages of Naugajja and Faridpur. Minister Cheema emphasized that the layout plan has received formal consent from Dera head Sant Niranjan Dass, which represents a crucial milestone that paves the way for the next phase of development. "The tendering process will be completed swiftly so that the project's construction can be formally initiated," Cheema stated during his announcement, indicating the government's commitment to timely execution.
Comprehensive Educational Facilities Planned
The centre is designed to be a comprehensive educational hub dedicated to the teachings of Guru Ravidas. It will feature:
- An administrative block with modern classrooms equipped with contemporary educational technology
- A dedicated library housing extensive collections related to Guru Ravidas's teachings and philosophy
- Specialized coaching facilities capable of accommodating up to 500 students simultaneously
- An Interpretation Hall specifically constructed to exhibit materials and artefacts related to Guru Ravidas's life, teachings, and philosophical contributions
