Thane: State tribal development minister Ashok Uike announced that the state would document and publish the biography of revolutionary Raghoji Bhangre and introduce his legacy to younger generations through school textbooks.

Scholarship and Recognition

Calling Bhangre's sacrifice "unforgettable," Uike said the state has launched the Raghoji Bhangre Scholarship to promote awareness about the ideals of the revolutionary among new-age students. The scholarship will be awarded to meritorious students at project, divisional and state levels. A statement from the district administration quoting the minister said that soon the government schemes and ashram schools under the tribal development department will also be named after revolutionaries as a mark of recognition.

Research on Tribal Icons

"Efforts are underway to compile the histories of 72 tribal icons. Research is being conducted through dedicated academic centres at the university level, with publications already in progress. From next year, the state plans to scale up official commemorations to allow wider public participation at historic sites," he said.
