Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced on Tuesday that over 19 lakh permanent houses have been constructed in Rajasthan under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) since its inception in 2016.
Scheme Targets and Achievements
The central government had set a target of 24.97 lakh houses for the state. Of these, more than 24.32 lakh have been approved, and 19.46 lakh have been completed so far. To support implementation, the Union government has allocated over Rs 3,283 crore.
In the past three financial years alone, Rs 2,771 crore has been released, with the highest allocation of Rs 1,641 crore in 2025–26. The scheme provides direct financial assistance to eligible rural households to build permanent homes, aiming to improve living standards and reduce poverty.
State Government's Commitment
The state government stated that it is working towards achieving the 'Housing for All' target by 2029. At the national level, the budget allocation for rural development has risen by over 211% in the past decade—from Rs 87,765 crore in 2016–17 to Rs 2.73 lakh crore in 2026–27—reflecting sustained investment in rural infrastructure and livelihoods.
