Rajasthan Government Transfers Over Rs 1,355 Crore to Farmers Under PM-Kisan Scheme
In a significant development for agricultural support, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma declared on Friday that the state government of Rajasthan remains steadfastly dedicated to the welfare of farmers. This commitment was underscored by the transfer of more than Rs 1,355 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 66.76 lakh farmers across the state. This substantial disbursement represents the 22nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, a flagship initiative aimed at bolstering the financial stability of India's agricultural community.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially released this latest instalment while addressing a comprehensive program in Guwahati, Assam. During this event, he also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects, highlighting the government's broader focus on infrastructure and growth. Chief Minister Sharma joined the proceedings virtually from the State Institute of Agricultural Management located in Durgapura, Jaipur, where he attentively listened to the Prime Minister's address, demonstrating a unified approach between state and central authorities.
Sharma emphasized the collaborative efforts between the Centre and the Rajasthan government, stating that both entities are working in tandem to strengthen farmer welfare and ensure that support schemes reach beneficiaries directly and efficiently. "Our government stands firmly with farmers in every situation," he asserted. "Under the Prime Minister's leadership, farmer welfare policies were designed with a new vision, recognising farmers as a key strength of the nation."
Details of the PM-Kisan Scheme and Increased Agricultural Budget
The PM-Kisan scheme is a critical component of the government's agricultural strategy, providing eligible farmers with Rs 6,000 annually. This amount is distributed in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly to their bank accounts. The primary objectives of the scheme are to offer essential income support and assist farmers in meeting both agricultural and household expenses, thereby enhancing their overall economic resilience.
In addition to the PM-Kisan disbursement, Chief Minister Sharma highlighted a historic increase in the state's agriculture budget. The budget saw a remarkable 34% rise, reflecting the government's intensified focus on fortifying the agriculture sector and providing robust support to farmers. This budgetary enhancement is expected to facilitate improved infrastructure, better resources, and more effective implementation of welfare programs.
"The Prime Minister has a clear commitment to make India's farmers prosperous, and several schemes, including PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, were implemented with that goal," Sharma added, reinforcing the overarching aim of these initiatives to uplift the agricultural community and contribute to national prosperity.
