Rajasthan Government Approves Extension of Crop Loan Repayment Deadline
In a significant move to provide relief to the agricultural community, the Rajasthan state government announced on Friday the approval of an extension for the repayment deadline of short-term, interest-free crop loans disbursed during the Kharif 2025 season. Gautam Kumar Dak, the state's Junior Minister for Cooperatives (Independent Charge), confirmed that the finance department has granted approval for this extension. Farmers who secured loans through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPS) via central cooperative banks will now have until May 15, 2026, to repay their loans. Alternatively, the repayment must be completed within 12 months from the date the loan was availed, whichever comes earlier.
Previously, the repayment deadline was set for March 31, 2026. However, persistent demands from farmers, driven by challenges such as crop damage, prompted the government to reconsider and implement this extension, providing much-needed financial breathing room.

Minister Dak highlighted the critical financial stakes involved. Without this extension, crop loans totaling approximately Rs 2,184 crore would have become overdue for around 5.57 lakh farmers.
