Rajasthan Government Approves Unified Digital Platform for Renewable Energy Monitoring

The Rajasthan state government has given its approval for the implementation of a unified digital monitoring platform designed to manage distributed renewable energy projects. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the consumer experience, optimize industry operations, and accelerate the adoption of renewable energy across the state.

Streamlining Renewable Energy Management

The new Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) Projects Monitoring Tool, sanctioned by the Project e-Governance Mission Team, will be executed by the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd (RRECL). Ajitabh Sharma, ACS (Energy), emphasized that the platform aims to integrate the implementation, monitoring, and approval processes for various renewable energy schemes, which are currently managed through disparate systems and manual procedures.

Rajasthan has experienced rapid growth in decentralised renewable energy programmes, including the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, PM-KUSUM, rooftop solar installations, and the solarisation of government buildings. However, the lack of a unified system has led to delays in approvals, duplicated processes, and limited tracking of energy generation.

Enhancing Real-Time Data and Consumer Experience

Rohit Gupta, CMD of RRECL, highlighted that the platform will provide real-time data visibility, centralised monitoring, and a comprehensive management information system for policymakers and utilities. For households and small businesses, this digital system is poised to simplify the adoption of rooftop solar and other distributed energy projects by reducing procedural hurdles.

Currently, consumers often face challenges due to multiple portals and manual approvals from different departments and power distribution companies. The unified platform intends to allow consumers to apply, track approvals, and monitor installations through a single interface. Gupta added, "It will improve scheduling and dispatch decisions for discoms and state load dispatch centres."

Future-Proofing Renewable Energy Initiatives

Officials noted that the platform will also establish a scalable digital backbone for future renewable programmes, enabling the government to monitor scheme performance, installation trends, and subsidy utilisation more effectively. This move is part of Rajasthan's broader strategy to bolster its renewable energy infrastructure and support sustainable development goals.
