The first round of admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for Class 1 has been completed in Gujarat, with a total of 77,925 students receiving seats in private schools across the state. However, approximately 5,753 seats remain vacant after the initial allocation, according to official data.
Confirmation Deadline for Parents
Parents of students who have been allotted seats must confirm the admission by visiting the respective schools on or before May 12. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the allotted seat, and such students will not be considered in subsequent rounds of the admission process.
Application Statistics and Verification
As per available data, around 2.4 lakh applications were received for 83,687 seats available under the 25% RTE quota in private schools. Out of these, 54,588 applications were cancelled, while 2,034 were rejected due to incomplete documents or ineligibility. After thorough verification, 1.86 lakh applications were deemed valid and were considered for the first round of seat allotment.
Vacant Seats and Second Round
Despite the large number of valid applications, several seats remained unfilled as some applicants did not opt for certain schools during the selection process. These unfilled seats will now be carried forward to the second round of admissions. Before the second round begins, parents will be given an opportunity to revise their school preferences. This step aims to ensure better utilisation of available seats. After this, fresh allotments will be made based on updated choices.
Clarification on School Changes
Following the announcement of first-round results, many parents approached district education offices requesting changes in allotted schools. However, authorities have clarified that admissions must be accepted only in the schools allotted through the official online process. No changes will be permitted outside the system.
