Telangana Government Launches Major Shop Auction Initiative in 2BHK Housing Colonies
In a significant move aimed at revitalizing local economies and enhancing community infrastructure, the Telangana government has announced the auction of more than 1,400 commercial shops located within 2BHK housing colonies across the core urban region economy (CURE) areas. The auctions are scheduled to commence this Thursday, marking a strategic effort to boost livelihoods and improve the upkeep of these residential communities.
District-Wide Auction Notifications Issued
District collectors from Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri, and Sangareddy have officially released notifications for the sale of these shops, which are spread across 36 different housing colonies. The initiative represents a comprehensive approach to fostering commercial activity within residential clusters that house hundreds of families.
The first phase of the auction will focus on 273 shops situated in eight colonies within Rangareddy district, with bidding scheduled for April 9 and 10. These commercial spaces vary in size from 60 to 400 square feet, strategically positioned to serve local residents and stimulate economic growth.
Transparent Auction Process with Nominal Pricing
According to VP Gautham, Managing Director of Telangana Housing Corporation Ltd, the shops are being offered on an 'as-is, where-is' basis. The upset prices have been deliberately kept nominal and below prevailing market rates to encourage participation from local entrepreneurs and investors.
Interested bidders are required to inspect the premises and complete registration at their respective Revenue Divisional Office (RDO) locations by 11 AM on auction days. Registration mandates the submission of an earnest money deposit as specified in the auction guidelines.
Revenue Allocation for Colony Maintenance
Government officials have clarified that all revenue generated from these shop auctions will be exclusively dedicated to the maintenance and improvement of the respective housing colonies. Welfare associations will be established under the Cooperative Societies Act to manage these funds transparently, ensuring that residents have direct oversight of how resources are utilized for community betterment.
"The government's primary objective is twofold," explained an official involved in the initiative. "First, to create employment opportunities for various individuals through these commercial spaces. Second, to ensure that essential daily commodities become readily accessible to local residents, reducing their dependence on distant markets."
Comprehensive Auction Schedule Across Districts
The open auctions have been meticulously scheduled across multiple districts to ensure systematic implementation:
- Rangareddy District: April 9-10 for 273 shops across 8 colonies
- Hyderabad District: April 15-16 for 77 shops across 10 colonies
- Medchal-Malkajgiri District: April 15-17 for 892 shops across 12 colonies
- Sangareddy District: April 15-18 and April 21 for 372 shops across 6 colonies
This phased approach allows for organized participation while addressing the specific needs of each district's housing colonies. The initiative represents a innovative model of community development where commercial activity directly funds residential maintenance, creating a sustainable ecosystem within these 2BHK housing projects.
