UP Deputy Chief Minister Applauds Union Budget 2026 as Visionary and Pro-People
In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Monday praised the Union Budget 2026, describing it as visionary and pro-people. He asserted that this budget will play a crucial role in achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047, highlighting its focus on inclusive growth and economic transformation.
Emphasis on Capital Expenditure and Infrastructure
Addressing a Budget Par Choupal programme in Lucknow, Pathak emphasized that the budget places a strong emphasis on capital expenditure and infrastructure creation. He noted that higher allocations for roads, railways, logistics networks, digital infrastructure, and the energy sector are designed to strengthen manufacturing capabilities and generate large-scale employment opportunities across the nation.
Special Priority for Uttar Pradesh
Pathak highlighted that Uttar Pradesh received special priority in the budget, with approval granted for two major infrastructure corridors in the state. These corridors are expected to significantly boost connectivity and economic activity, fostering regional development and enhancing the state's contribution to national growth.
Detailed Budget Allocations and Key Figures
The deputy CM provided detailed insights into the budget allocations, noting that the total outlay stands at Rs 9,12,696.35 crore, reflecting a 12.9% increase from previous years. Key allocations include:
- Rs 34,468 crore for roads and bridges
- Rs 65,926 crore for the energy sector
- Rs 18,290 crore for irrigation and flood control
- Rs 37,956 crore for health and family welfare
- Rs 14,997 crore for medical education, including Rs 1,023 crore for 14 new medical colleges
- Rs 25,500 crore for rural development, with Rs 6,102 crore for PM Awas Yojana Gramin
- 12.4% of the total budget allocated to the education sector
- Rs 2,374 crore set aside for the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana
Inclusive Growth and Upliftment Initiatives
Pathak concluded by stating that the budget is inclusive and aims to uplift various segments of society, including farmers, youth, women, and the poor. He reiterated that these measures are aligned with the broader vision of creating a developed and prosperous India by 2047, ensuring that economic progress benefits all citizens equally.
