In a significant push for sports infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Secretary SP Goyal chaired a crucial meeting of the Project Monitoring Group in Lucknow on Friday. During the session, he issued clear directives to ensure the timely completion of key projects across the state, with a sharp focus on the Major Dhyan Chand State Sports University in Meerut.
Deadlines Set for Sports University Phases
Goyal emphasized that the first phase of the Major Dhyan Chand State Sports University must be fully completed by March 31, 2026. Officials reported that approximately 80% of the work for this initial phase has already been accomplished, indicating steady progress. For the second phase, the Chief Secretary set an even more immediate deadline, mandating its completion by August of this year. This phase involves not only construction activities but also the creation of necessary administrative posts, procurement of furniture, and establishment of other essential facilities to make the university operational.
Expansion of Sports Infrastructure Across Divisions
Looking beyond Meerut, SP Goyal outlined a broader vision for sports development in Uttar Pradesh. He instructed officials to plan for the establishment of sports colleges and centres of excellence in all divisions of the state. To support this ambitious initiative, he directed that adequate financial provisions be incorporated into the upcoming state budget, ensuring that funding does not become a bottleneck for these projects.
Review of Other Major Projects
The meeting also included a comprehensive review of other high-profile infrastructure projects. For the International Cricket Stadium under construction in Gorakhpur, Goyal instructed the nodal officer to conduct weekly meetings. This step is aimed at ensuring regular and rigorous monitoring of the project's progress, addressing any delays proactively, and maintaining momentum towards completion.
Ayodhya Temple Museum Development
Another key project discussed was the upcoming Museum of Indian Temple Architecture in Ayodhya. Chief Secretary Goyal stressed the importance of a holistic approach to its development. He directed that alongside the main museum construction, work on the approach road, street lighting, and other necessary infrastructure facilities should proceed simultaneously. This integrated strategy is designed to ensure that the museum is fully functional and accessible upon completion, enhancing its potential as a cultural and tourist attraction.
The directives from Chief Secretary SP Goyal underscore the Uttar Pradesh government's commitment to accelerating infrastructure projects that boost sports, culture, and tourism. By setting clear deadlines and emphasizing coordinated efforts, the administration aims to transform these blueprints into reality, contributing to the state's development and providing enhanced facilities for athletes and visitors alike.
