UP Government Launches Digital Skill Portal 'Kaushal Disha'
The Uttar Pradesh government has launched an innovative digital portal called 'Kaushal Disha'. This platform aims to provide skill development opportunities to people who cannot attend physical training centers. Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary inaugurated the portal in Lucknow.
Breaking Barriers in Skill Education
The portal cuts across traditional divides. It addresses gender gaps, class and caste differences, and urban-rural disparities. Everyone can access the platform freely at upsdm.gov.in. The government designed Kaushal Disha to reach those previously excluded from skill development programs.
What the Portal Offers
Kaushal Disha provides comprehensive digital skill training. Users get free access to multiple resources:
- Skill development courses
- Video tutorials for practical learning
- Candidate assessment tools
- Official certification upon completion
The platform features a simple registration process. Learners can study at their own pace through self-paced learning modules. Online assessments determine certification eligibility.
Initial Job Roles and Future Expansion
The portal currently offers training for ten popular job roles. These include:
- Domestic Data Entry Operator
- Electrical Technician
- Food and Beverage Service Steward
- General Duty Assistant
- Sewing Machine Operator
- Customer Care Executive (Domestic Non-Voice)
- Retail Sales Associate
- Warehouse Associate
- Home Health Aide Trainee

The government plans to expand this offering gradually. The portal will eventually cover one hundred different job roles.
Bridging the Skill Divide
Pulkit Khare, Director of UP Skill Development Mission, explained the portal's purpose. "Kaushal Disha is an online skill education platform aimed at bridging the skill divide among rural youth," he said. "It provides easy access to a wide range of skill training programmes through simple registration, self-paced learning, and online assessment with certification."
Integration with Existing Schemes
The portal incorporates training modules from the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 1.0. This integration brings top industry sectors into the digital training environment. Key sectors covered include:
- IT-ITES
- Tourism and Hospitality
- Electronics
- Healthcare
- Apparel, Made-ups and Home Furnishing
- Retail
- Logistics
This approach ensures the training remains relevant to current job market demands.
The Kaushal Disha portal represents a significant step toward inclusive skill development in Uttar Pradesh. By leveraging digital technology, the state government makes quality training accessible to all residents regardless of location or background.
