Woman Dupes Two Of Rs 7.50 Lakh With Fake Job Promises

In a case of fraudulent job promises, the Ravet police in Pune are on the lookout for a woman from Chinchwad who allegedly cheated two acquaintances out of Rs 7.50 lakh by assuring them of government employment. The complainant, a resident of Kiwale, has filed a formal complaint against the absconding accused.

Details of the Fraud

The police have registered a case under Sections 318 (cheating) and 316 (criminal breach of trust) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to an officer from the Ravet police station, the complainant and the accused were known to each other. The accused claimed to have influential contacts and promised to secure a government job for the complainant. Specifically, she assured her a position as a junior clerk in the state prison department located in Yerawada.

"The accused used to take money from the complainant at different intervals by citing various reasons," the officer stated. Furthermore, the accused also promised a job of a sales tax inspector to the complainant's friend and began extracting money from her as well.

Financial Exploitation Over Four Years

Between 2021 and 2025, the accused managed to collect a total of Rs 7.50 lakh from both women. The victims were led on for years without any job materializing. When they realized they had been deceived, they repeatedly approached the accused for a refund. However, their efforts were in vain.

"Despite repeated follow-ups, when they did not get their money back, they approached the police and lodged a complaint," the officer added. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Ongoing Investigation

The Ravet police are actively searching for the accused woman, who remains at large. "Our investigations are on," the officer confirmed. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the case.
