A tragic road accident on the Indore-Ahmedabad national highway in the early hours of Saturday resulted in one fatality and left fifteen others injured. The collision involved a speeding truck and a state transport bus from Madhya Pradesh near Jalat village, close to Dahod.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The accident occurred shortly after midnight. The bus, which was travelling from Indore to Ahmedabad, had slowed down and was taking a left turn towards the Avantika Hotel for a break. This spot is situated near the Madhya Pradesh-Gujarat border. At that moment, a speeding truck, also registered in Indore, crashed into the bus from behind.

The impact was so severe that it caused the bus to topple onto its side. Most passengers were asleep at the time and were violently jolted awake by the crash.

Rescue Operation and Fatal Discovery

People present at the nearby hotel immediately rushed to the scene to help the injured and alerted emergency services. While many passengers managed to crawl out of the overturned vehicle on their own or with assistance, a grim discovery was made later.

One passenger, identified as Kadam Singar, a resident of Bhuradabra village in MP's Jhabua district, was found trapped underneath the bus. Rescue workers had to bring in an earthmover to lift the heavy vehicle. Kadam was retrieved but declared dead. His body was sent to a hospital for a postmortem examination.

His brother, Manish, who was travelling with him and survived the crash, later lodged a formal complaint at the Katwara police station.

Aftermath and Investigation

The police have registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash. The early morning tragedy on a busy national highway has once again highlighted road safety concerns, particularly involving heavy vehicles on long-distance routes.

The injured passengers received medical attention following the rescue. The incident caused significant disruption at the location near the state border before the wreckage was cleared.
