A wave of shock and grief has swept through Aamdari village in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district after the body of a missing 10-year-old boy was discovered dumped in a gunny bag on Monday. The grim find has left the local community under the jurisdiction of the Phephna police station in a state of profound distress.
Disappearance and Desperate Search
The tragic sequence of events began on Sunday evening. Radha Mohan Verma, a resident of Aamdari village, alerted the Phephna police that his son, Shivam Verma, also known as Yashwant, had gone missing. The 10-year-old was last seen playing in front of his family home.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the local police station registered a case immediately. A massive search operation was launched, involving the station in-charge of Phephna, police personnel, and concerned villagers. Despite combing the entire area through the night, the efforts to locate the child proved futile.
The Gruesome Discovery
The hope of finding Shivam alive was tragically shattered on Monday morning. Some villagers made a horrifying discovery behind a house: a body stuffed inside a gunny bag. Authorities were informed without delay.
A high-level police team, led by ASP Southern Kripa Shankar, rushed to the scene. The response included forensic experts, SWAT surveillance units, and teams from the local police station to secure the area and begin the investigation. Ballia SP Omvir Singh also visited the recovery site to oversee the initial probe.
