The Panchkula traffic police have taken strict action against roadside parking violators, fining 1,258 commuters and impounding 17 vehicles during a special enforcement drive in June. The police said that traffic challans were issued through both online and manual modes, and vehicles parked in no-parking zones were towed.
Enforcement Drive Details
According to senior police officials, the enforcement drive was launched after repeated advisories and installation of no-parking signboards at important and sensitive locations across the city failed to deter violators. “Despite these efforts, many motorists continued to violate the rules. As a result, the police were forced to take strict action in the urban areas of Panchkula,” officials said.
Continued Action in July
The police have announced that the enforcement drive will continue in July. They have urged road users not to park their vehicles in no-parking zones and warned that vehicles found violating the rules will be towed. The drive aims to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion caused by illegal parking.
Public Advisories and Signage
Prior to the drive, the police issued public advisories and installed no-parking signboards at key locations. However, persistent violations led to the intensified enforcement. The police have appealed to the public to cooperate and follow traffic regulations to avoid fines and impoundment.
