15 Arrested for Ransacking Police Outpost in Asansol

Asansol: Fifteen individuals were taken into custody for ransacking a police outpost located in Qureshi Mohalla in Asansol on Friday evening, as confirmed by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday, reports Mohammad Asif.

Strict Warning from CM Adhikari

"Those who were involved in vandalising the police outpost are now in police custody. Not only will they face prosecution, but the cost of damaging public property will also be recovered from them. If any policeman is injured, those responsible will not be spared," warned Adhikari.

Incident Details

The unrest began when news spread that police had requested the removal of a loudspeaker from a mosque at Qureshi Mohalla. Agitated locals subsequently ransacked the police outpost. To bring the situation under control, police and central forces resorted to a lathi-charge and fired tear gas shells. Route marches were also conducted in the area to restore order.

Identification of Accused

ADCP Dhruba Das stated that the arrested individuals were identified from CCTV footage capturing the attack on the police outpost. The authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure all perpetrators are held accountable.
