A 16-year-old girl, the daughter of a local businessman in Patna, has been missing for the past four days, triggering a police investigation and a frantic search by her family. The incident has cast a shadow over the North Krishnapuri area under the SK Puri police station.
Disappearance and Distress Call
The teenager left her family's rented home in North Krishnapuri around 5 pm on Thursday and failed to return. Her family's anxiety turned into alarm when they received a distressing phone call from her on Saturday. Following this call, the family officially lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at the SK Puri police station.
Senior police officials, including Station House Officer (SHO) Jitendra Rana, immediately formed a team to gather technical evidence to trace the missing minor. "The girl called her mother from an unknown number," SHO Rana stated. "She briefly said she was going to Gandhi Maidan before the call ended abruptly."
Police Investigation and Key Clues
Acting on the clue, police used technical surveillance to trace the unknown phone number. The investigation led them to a local guava vendor on Frazer Road. The vendor informed the police that a girl, dressed in a sari, had bought guavas from him and requested to use his phone to make a call.
"Based on this and the mother's statement, our team extensively searched Gandhi Maidan and its surrounding areas for about one and a half hours," Rana explained. During the search, officers showed photographs of the girl to people in the area. One individual claimed to have seen her at Gandhi Maidan and noted that she later left the location in an e-rickshaw on Saturday.
Elopement Theory vs. Kidnapping Allegation
The police have indicated a preliminary theory of elopement. "Prima facie, it appears the girl left voluntarily. We spoke to her cousin, who confirmed that she was in regular contact with a boy over her cellphone. We are actively working to trace this boy," SHO Jitendra Rana added.
However, the girl's family strongly contests the elopement theory. They have alleged that she was kidnapped, citing the distressed and fearful tone they detected in her voice during the short phone call on Saturday. The conflicting theories have added complexity to the case as authorities continue their search.
A dedicated police team remains deployed, pursuing all technical and human intelligence leads to locate the missing teenager and bring clarity to the circumstances of her disappearance.
