17 Arrested in WB Constable Exam Fraud Racket in Dhanbad

In a significant crackdown, Dhanbad police successfully dismantled a sophisticated fraud network that aimed to manipulate the West Bengal constable recruitment examination. The operation resulted in the arrest of seventeen individuals and the seizure of substantial evidence just one day before the scheduled test.

Police Stumble Upon Suspicious Vehicle

The breakthrough came on Saturday when authorities noticed a suspicious Scorpio vehicle near Ghanuadih in Jharia area. City Superintendent of Police Ritvik Srivastava revealed during a media briefing that upon investigation, the occupants were identified as residents of Nadia district in West Bengal.

The police discovered these individuals were orchestrating an elaborate scheme to help candidates cheat in the recruitment examination through fraudulent methods. Their presence in Dhanbad raised immediate red flags among the vigilant police force.

Major Raid Uncovers Extensive Evidence

Acting swiftly on the information gathered, police conducted a raid at a lodge in Jharia where the fraudsters were operating. The operation led to the arrest of all seventeen accused, all hailing from various parts of West Bengal.

Law enforcement officials recovered a staggering amount of evidence including 273 examination admit cards, 67 mobile phones, and numerous original documents belonging to candidates. The seized documents included academic certificates, Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, bank passbooks, and cheque books.

Sophisticated Fraud Operation Exposed

Further investigation uncovered the gang's modus operandi. The fraudsters had been systematically coaching candidates and planned to send examination answers through mobile phones during the test. This method would have enabled candidates to clear the recruitment exam through dishonest means.

The network had mobilized just before the examination date, but prompt action by Dhanbad police completely thwarted their plans. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mazarul Haq Mandal, Shafiqul Sheikh, Shamim Akhtar, Shaheen Shah, Aamir Sohel, Kiran Sheikh, Abdullah Sheikh, Bablu Mandal, Mohammad Amirul Mandal, Saklen Mandal, Sumit Kumar Mandal, Chandan Chakravarty, Ujjwal Sheikh, Sonu Kumar, Shubhankar Mandal, Aarp Mandal and Rishiraj Goswami.

Following their arrest, all accused underwent medical examinations and were subsequently sent to judicial custody. The West Bengal Police has joined the investigation, with law enforcement agencies from both states collaborating to trace the complete extent of the fraud network and prevent any further malpractices.

This coordinated effort between state police forces demonstrates the seriousness with which authorities are treating examination integrity and recruitment process transparency.
