A 22-year-old man was discovered murdered in an open field on the outskirts of Musapur village, under the Ghatho police station area in Samastipur district, on Tuesday morning. The victim, identified as Vikas Kumar, suffered multiple stab wounds to his neck and back, according to police officials.

Incident Details

According to family members, a wedding ceremony took place in the neighborhood on Monday night. Vikas had attended the feast along with his relatives but failed to return home afterward. When he did not come back late at night, his family began searching for him. His body was later found lying in an open field outside the village on Tuesday morning.

Family Statement

Vikas’s cousin, Mithilesh Kumar, stated, “Everyone in the house went to the wedding. Vikas also went to the feast but didn’t return for a long time. We were looking for him since night. We have no enmity with anyone.” The family expressed shock and denied any known conflicts.

Police Response

Soon after the body was discovered, a large crowd of villagers gathered at the scene. Police arrived, took custody of the body, and sent it to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Dalsinghsarai DSP Vivek Kumar Sharma confirmed the murder, stating, “The matter is being thoroughly investigated and the case will be solved soon.” He added that according to family members, Vikas was mentally challenged.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities collecting evidence and questioning potential witnesses. No arrests have been made yet.
