24-year-old woman found hanging, dowry death case filed

A 24-year-old woman, who was married six months ago, was discovered hanging at her matrimonial residence in the Saadatganj area of Lucknow on Sunday. Following allegations from her family that she was subjected to harassment over dowry demands, including a car, police have registered a dowry death case against her husband and other in-laws.

Incident Details

According to police officials, the woman had married a resident of Saadatganj on December 9, 2025. Her family alleged that the husband and his relatives killed her due to dowry and then staged the scene to make it appear as a suicide by hanging.

Investigation Underway

Police teams inspected the crime scene and sent the body for postmortem examination after completing inquest proceedings. The panchnama was conducted in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Jitendra Kumar Dubey. Authorities have formed teams to apprehend the accused, and raids are being conducted at various locations.

The ADCP stated that further legal action will be taken based on available evidence and the autopsy report. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to dowry death.
