In a significant breakthrough, Garhwa district police have apprehended three individuals from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh in connection with a violent attack on a local jeweller last month. The arrests shed light on a series of criminal activities spanning two states.
Arrests Made in Banshidhar Nagar Assault Case
According to official statements released on Saturday, the police successfully tracked down and arrested the trio from Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh. They were wanted for their alleged involvement in the November 29 attack on jeweller Deepak Kumar Soni in Garhwa's Banshidhar Nagar area.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Aman Kumar identified the arrested accused as Sonu Kumar (29), Roshan Kumar (25), and Raj Kumar alias Golu (21). The operation demonstrates inter-state police coordination in tackling cross-border crime.
Shocking Confession Links to Major Robbery
During interrogation, the investigation took a more serious turn. The three men reportedly confessed to their involvement in another high-value crime. They admitted to a Rs 20 lakh heist from a jeweller in Uttar Pradesh's Shakti Nagar on November 15, just two weeks prior to the Garhwa incident.
This revelation suggests the group was active in targeting jewellery businesses across district and state lines. Police are now probing possible connections to other unsolved cases in the region.
Ongoing Investigation and Implications
The arrests bring relief to the local business community in Garhwa, which had been alarmed by the brazen attack. Police are now focused on recovering the stolen property and determining if more individuals were part of this criminal network.
This case highlights the challenges and successes of law enforcement in dealing with criminals who operate across jurisdictional boundaries. The Garhwa police's swift action in apprehending the suspects from another state is being seen as a commendable effort.
