The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday ordered the transfer of three serving superintendents of police (SPs) from Chandigarh to Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir as part of a significant reshuffle of AGMUT cadre officers. The changes will alter the senior leadership of the Chandigarh Police.
Officers Transferred Out of Chandigarh
According to MHA orders, IPS officers Manjeet (2015 batch), Geetanjali Khandelwal (2015 batch), and K M Priyanka (2021 batch) have been transferred out of Chandigarh. Manjeet, who was handling Headquarters, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Crime, and Communication, has been moved to Delhi. Geetanjali Khandelwal, in charge of Operations, Cyber Crime, and Vigilance, has also been posted to Delhi. K M Priyanka, who oversaw City, Women and Child Support Helpline, and Intelligence, has been transferred to Jammu & Kashmir.
New Postings to Chandigarh
In their place, two IPS officers have been posted to Chandigarh. Rajesh Kumar Sharma (2014 batch) has been transferred from Jammu & Kashmir, while Vinit Kumar (2018 batch) has been moved from Delhi. This leaves Chandigarh’s sanctioned IPS strength short by one officer for the time being.
Broader AGMUT Cadre Reshuffle
The transfers are part of a wider reshuffle of IAS and IPS officers in the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre. The MHA order transferred 21 IAS officers and 40 IPS officers across various segments, including Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, Puducherry, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. The transfers are effective immediately and remain in force until further orders.
